Rafa Benitez reveals the remarkable recovery of some of Newcastle’s injured players

Managing director Lee Charnley says in a statement Friday that “we feel that a change is now needed in order to give the club the best possible chance of securing its Premier League future”. “We wanted to train from the first moment and credit to the players for coming in from a day off. It was a great atmosphere”.

Captain Fabricio Coloccini is a doubt with a calf injury, while goalkeeper Tim Krul, defenders Chancel Mbemba, Massadio Haidara and Kevin Mbabu and winger Gabriel Obertan remain sidelined. Meanwhile Haidara, Mbemba, Obertan, Dummett, and Krul are definitely ruled out for the contest.

Furthermore, Leicester have posted a hugely impressive W8-D5-L1 record in 14 home league fixtures this term and they have not lost a game at the King Power Stadium since going down 2-5 against Arsenal back in September. If everything is fine, as I expect, and we are in the Premier League, then we can talk about what my position is and the final decisions, whether I am involved in the signings.

Newcastle have put their faith in Benitez’s well-founded reputation for being able to enforce tactical discipline and propel unfancied sides to outperform expectations.

“This is a big challenge but I have confidence”, he said.

For Leicester, they need to continue to prove they’ve earned the title of league favourites and not let up against seemingly weaker opposition. He credits to have spoken with Peter Beardsley, Alan Shearer, and Michael Owen.

Rafa Benitez was coaching Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo at the beginning of the season.

Newcastle sit second bottom of the Premier League, one point behind arch-rivals Sunderland above the safety line with one game in hand.

The former England boss just couldn’t turn around what was a bad situation, and Newcastle’s declining from was very reminiscent of Derby County’s collapse under his guidance months prior to arriving at St. James’ Park. Benitez believes that it may be unnecessary to use the relegation clause in his contract.

“He has managed some of the most successful teams at the very highest level of the game and we are proud to now have him as our manager”.
