Spurs travel to Villa Park following a disappointing 3-0 loss in the Europa League against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night, but will be keen to get back on track with the league title firmly in their sights.

Lloris said: ‘After a game like this one, you feel very far from the top teams in Europe but, at the same time, it’s the kind of game you want to play and you must be ready to compete’.

“We can take some positives like good experience but I’m disappointed with the result because it’s never good to lose 0-3”. “Maybe if we gave him a special shoe that would allow him to play we could try that”.

The coach also heaped praise on the superior team that is only second to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this season.

“We will need to concentrate and play at a high level otherwise it will be hard”.

Dortmund put in a footballing master class to claim a comfortable victory over the Premier League’s second-placed side in the first leg of the Round of 16 at Westfalenstadion.

Despite this, Pochettino came out full of beans for his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s game against Aston Villa, telling the press ” I’m not anxious, I know the circumstances ” .

He stated that his team need to ” show respect ” and ” have the right mentality and motivation ” in order to claim all three points, and get back on track. Of course we can question ourselves a bit but not too much, because the league is very important. “Crucial was last season when we were 14th in November”, Pochettino said.

“That was exactly our feeling after the draw”. There’s a non-zero percent chance it could happen, which is just enough to make me nervous. “It’s hard to have regret”. If we combined those two bets in a score-cast then we get very tempting odds of 14/1.
