Trump rally sparks extraordinary stretch in Republican race
The Republican Presidential contender used the moment to criticise the protesters who flocked to his event in Chicago last night, leading him to postpone it indefinitely.

“I hope these guys get thrown in jail”, Trump said after one of the dozen or so groups of protesters was escorted from the Arvest Bank Theatre at The Midland. The next morning, a protester rushed the stage at a Trump rally outside of Dayton, forcing Secret Service agents to leap on stage and form a protective circle around him.
At another rally in Kansas later the same day Mr Trump said staff found evidence the protester had possible links to the Islamic State.
“What caused the protests at Trump’s rally is a candidate that has promoted hatred and division against Latinos, Muslims, women, and people with disabilities, and his birther attacks against the legitimacy of President Obama”, he said.
“Regardless of whether there are protesters against Trump as well as the people that support him, as much as we can possibly do, we are going to maintain the peace and make sure everybody’s safe”, said Mayor Tari Renner of Bloomington.
Demonstrators disrupt an election rally by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in Kansas City, Mo., Saturday, March 12, 2016. Mimicking Sanders, Trump slumped his shoulders, turned around, and danced away from the podium.
Donald Trump’s rivals – inside and outside his own party – are blaming the Republican frontrunner and his incendiary rhetoric for the violence erupting at his campaign events.
On Saturday in Chicago, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was asked for his reaction to Trump’s rally being shut down by protesters, many of whom chanted the Vermont senator’s name in celebration.
“I don’t think our supporters are inciting”, the Democratic candidate said. It comes after that chaos in Chicago, violent clashes between protesters and supporters inside that auditorium. “Listen, the protesters have no right to engage in violence”, Cruz says.
“Donald Trump has created a toxic environment”, Mr. Kasich told reporters in OH today.
“If you look at the posters, they’re all printed, they have a mark on them, who made them, all done by a group, all professionally done, a disgrace, if you want to know the truth”, he said. The cancellation followed an appearance by Trump in St. Louis on Friday during which protests forced him to halt his speech repeatedly. “Get your people in line, Bernie”. “There is no place for this, there is no place for a national leader to prey on the fears of people who live in our great country”.
“When that is what the Trump campaign is doing, we should not be surprised that there is a response”, he said.

Hours before Trump was scheduled to appear Friday night at the University of IL at Chicago, the atmosphere inside a campus arena was crackling as protesters and supporters shouted back and forth, arms raised and yelling in each other’s faces.
