Memphis has removed all conditions from Austin Nichols’ release
That includes Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and South Carolina, Virginia, Iowa, Providence and Tennessee.

Bowen’s statement didn’t indicate the conditions of Nichols’ release and the schools he was prohibited from considering.
And in the span of just a few hours, with an attorney now on his side, Memphis announced that Nichols can have the unconditional transfer he desires.
Despite receiving a conditional release from his scholarship at Memphis on Thursday, star forward Austin Nichols wants more freedom – specifically, the freedom to transfer to Virginia. “The current NCAA regulations relative to member institution to member institution transfers violate the Sherman Act (as they illegally affect both the “input” and “output’ markets)”.
After looking like an absolute joke, being raked through the coals, and being shown as somebody who should not be taken seriously, it looks like Josh Pastner wants to alleviate some of the media criticism coming his way.
Obviously, Nichols intends to transfer to one of the schools that he was previously blocked from attending. The Blue Devils recruited Nichols out of high school and could sell him on joining a front court featuring some of the best players in the Class of 2016.

The teams on the block listed included every school in Memphis’s conference and all of the Tigers’ 2015-16 non-conference opponents, The Commercial Appeal reported. A two-year stint at Virginia could help maintain the Cavs recent success in the ACC, and it could also lead to the type of exposure that may get Nichols noticed by scouts and general managers on the next level.
