Conor Sheary scored twice and Matt Cullen had the go-ahead goal in the third period in the short-handed Pittsburgh Penguins’ 5-3 victory over the New York Rangers on Sunday.

Sheary, Crosby and Tom Kuhnhackl each recorded two points in the win. Malkin has 58 points in 57 games this season, including 27 goals and 31 assists.

Lundqvist, who returned Saturday after missing three games with a neck injury, made 28 saves.

NY tied the game for the third time on McDonagh’s wraparound 5:04 into the third.

The Penguins dominated the second period, outshooting the Rangers 10-2. In the Penguins most recent contest with the Rangers, a 4-1 victory for Pittsburgh, Hagelin picked up an assist on a goal by Sidney Crosby.

NY drew even six minutes and 10 seconds later as Kreider tapped Derek Stepan’s cross-ice feed past Fleury for his 16th of the season. “The fourth one (Pittsburgh goal) was a really tough one”.

After a scoreless first period Steven Stamkos put the Lightning in the lead in the second, but it was in the third where they did the damage. The Penguins meanwhile are okay on the road with a 15-14-4 mark. Rangers associate coach Scott Arniel announced prior to the game that C Derick Brassard would return to the lineup.

Coming off Saturday’s overtime loss to Detroit, the Rangers got off to a fast start, outshooting the Penguins 13-3 in the first 11 minutes. He is expected to miss up to two months with an upper-body injury. Malkin is an elite center, and taking him out of the equation will severely cripple Pittsburgh’s playoff chances.

Rangers forward Tanner Glass missed the game with an upper-body injury. Prior to the game there was a moment of silence for Bill Gadsby, who died Thursday. They moved ahead of Detroit in the race for the first Eastern Conference wild-card playoff berth, pending the outcome of the Red Wings’ game against Toronto Sunday night.
