“They were physically very strong and overall I think we had enough chances to win the game”.

Arsenal were stunned by Watford 2-1 in a tightly contested FA Cup encounter at the Emirates Stadium.

Here is what Arsene Wenger has to say after the home loss (the second straight after Swansea). “What is really important in football, to be successful we need to score”, added Mertesacker.

“We want now to focus on the Champions League and the little chance we have”, Wenger said. “We play at home on Sunday now and we have some days to prepare so let’s see if we can recover one or two injuries and continue to play like we did today”.

“We worked hard until the end of the game and hopefully we go further than the semi-final”.

“I have memories on television of the old Wembley and watching in Spain and seeing the finals of this competition”, he said.
