People, apprentices and skills are key to business expansion

New training scheme are being offered with businesses on the park, including eight apprentices in creative and digital media who will spend two years with BT Sport at Here East.
Some 89 per cent consider apprenticeships to be equally suited to men and women, but 7 per cent say they are better for men and 3 per cent for women.

Apprentices on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park largely consist of local residents, particularly young people and those who face significant barriers to entering or returning to the labour market, who have had the opportunity to learn skills in a range of roles.
I hope National Apprenticeship Week will inspire many more businesses across the country to commit to taking on an apprentice.
A report, entitled Making Apprenticeships Work for Young Women and released by Young Women’s Trust, highlights that a gender pay gap and inequality are ever present throughout apprenticeships.

Owain talked about what he enjoyed about his apprenticeship, and what the benefits are.
Apprenticeships offer many opportunities to do additional training on top of the qualification; Owain is about to do a foot trimming course after his apprenticeship as well as other courses.
The wider GLA family are also creating apprenticeships in support of the Mayor’s target. Nearly a third of them are over the age of 30, and many are career-changers.

Over recent years, apprenticeships have become increasingly popular, as more people are realising they provide a valuable combination of qualifications, skill development and work experience, all within a structured environment.
