‘Star Trek Beyond’ Beams Up Shohreh Aghdashloo
So you shouldn’t necessarily take Star Trek Beyond getting some last minute touches as bad news.

Deadline is reporting that 63-year old actress Shohreh Aghdashloo (24, Grimm) has joined the latest installment in the rebooted Star Trek film series. I’ll be honest, that footage didn’t really wow me, but the fact that Simon Pegg and Doug Jung wrote the script is promising enough, and I quite like this ensemble so I still look forward to seeing what Star Trek Beyond has in store for us.
Considering the first trailer received a decidedly mixed reaction from audiences, Paramount was probably nervous already. No word on exactly how the addition fits in, or how big a role she may play, though it’s kind of odd to see a whole new character (especially one played by an Emmy winner) added so late in the game. Aghdashloo is a fantastic actress, and however this role shakes out, she should make an excellent addition to the cast.
Which again, is never a good sign.

In a previous interview, Justin Lin said that he was confident about the direction of the film and that it could very well finish filming way ahead of its scheduled release date. Fans can see how the captain fares against seemingly insurmountable odds when “Star Trek: Beyond” arrives in a few months. The core of what made Star Trek unique has been lost a bit. The cast of the film is now doing reshoots, and the movie is still set to be released on July 22.
