Cleveland Browns Want 49ers QB To Take Nearly $5 Million Pay Cut

“Kaepernick likes Cleveland coach Hue Jackson and is willing to restructure his contract, but he’s hesitant to accept a significant pay cut to join a team that was 3-13 in 2015, lost five starters who signed free agent contracts with other teams and is expected to select a quarterback with the second overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft”.

Despite the trade rumors surrounding Colin Kaepernick, CSN Bay Area reported Monday that “all is quiet”.

The Broncos have not offered the 49ers a fourth-round pick, but believe that to be the “right price”, reports Silver.

The Cleveland Browns may still have interest in trading for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, but things have reportedly cooled off for now. Well it might be tough to pull off considering the Broncos don’t have a fourth-round pick, dealing it as part of the Gino Gradkowski trade.

Sure, they have a fourth-round compensatory pick. Also, it would be easy to make up the difference, as Denver could send a third-round pick and then get a six-round choice or a seventh-round choice back with the QB.

One of the problems is the Broncos don’t have a fourth-round pick to trade, at least not this season.

Kaepernick has become expendable for San Francisco after his benching in favor of Blaine Gabbert last season.

The 49ers don’t want to trade Kaepernick for anything lower than a second round pick.

But he’s at a disadvantage because no one has offered him more money, whereas Kaepernick is entering the third year of a seven-year contract.

Denver sees a lot of potential in Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers also have enough salary-cap space to absorb the $11.9 million Kaepernick would be guaranteed if he is still on the roster April 1.

The Broncos do have the last non-compensatory pick in round three.

If they do release Kaepernick, teams such as the Broncos and Browns could acquire him without surrendering a premium draft pick.
