North Carolina’s primary on Tuesday will be notable for the fact that it won’t decide the Republican and Democratic nominees in the state’s congressional races because of new districts and a new schedule recently put in place. Ted Cruz spent nearly all of Monday trying to stop billionaire Donald Trump from taking IL.
But aides to Clinton’s campaign said the race has gotten closer in recent days in Illinois, Ohio and Missouri. Cruz apparently saw an opening as well.
So much so that, eight years ago when, Illinois’ then junior U-S Senator Barack Obama was making a bid for the White House, Democratic leaders in his home state moved up the date of Illinois’ primary to boost his chances. Once you choose a party’s ballot, you will be registered to vote with that party’s affiliation until the next primary election. Republican turnout may be higher because of the hotly contested race between candidates for Adams County state’s attorney.Tracy already cast her ballot in early voting.
One good sign of North Carolina’s primary, there were record breaking numbers for early voting in some counties, proving this election is getting out the vote, no matter who folks are voting for.
Opdycke said that about half the primaries in the nation have some form of open system and half – like Florida – do not.
Either way, you should here for minute-to-minute updates from throughout Florida about how ever-important state metes out a massive 246 Democratic delegates and 99 Republican delegates. Now just Rubio, Trump, Texas Sen. Kyle McCarter, both Republicans, are vying for the 15th District, while Democrats are battling it out in the 10th District with Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering and former U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider.
There are 13 Republicans and three Democrats on the ballot – but only four Republicans and two Democrats still are actively seeking the presidency. Numerous remaining delegates are pledged to a candidate independently of Tuesday’s results, and those delegates – which include party leaders and elected officials – heavily favor Clinton.
“It looks to me like Chicago and IL are ready for a political revolution”, Sanders said, his voice hoarse. Latino voters are a key demographic for Clinton in the primary and a potential general election, where her campaign hopes Trump’s anti-immigrant comments could drive turnout among her supporters.
The Clinton campaign says the former secretary of state will hold a public event in Chicago at a union hall. “And that is what we’re going to see tomorrow”.
