System Shock Remake Gameplay Footage Revealed

Night Dive Studios is working on a remake of System Shock and just released pre-alpha gameplay from the upcoming game.

To give you some context and contrast, here’s some images of the original game in comparison to the remastered footage. And now there’s about two minutes of footage to view after a couple of months of teasing about the remastered version of System Shock and the initial announcement of System Shock 3. “We will keep the new game true to the classic experience, keeping all the things you loved, while updating the user interface and graphics to use a modern day engine (Unity)”.

This isn’t the only System Shock game in the works of course. Ken Levine made BioShock, considered by many to be a spiritual successor, while Warren Spector made Deus Ex, which also leans heavily on the System Shock 2 formula.

This is not to be confused with the System Shock Enhanced Edition now available on Steam, also from Nightdive.

Night Dive Studios acquired the rights to the System Shock franchise IP from the Star Insurance Company, which picked them up after original developer Looking Glass Studios was forced to relinquish the assets following its closure. There’s no release date as yet.
