Ravens sign WR Mike Wallace to 2-year deal
Mike Wallace officially agreed to a two-year, .5 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, but made bigger headlines by ripping his former quarterback on his way out of Minnesota. “I was like, ‘I need a good quarterback, ‘” Wallace said at a news conference according to ESPN. “I need a quarterback who I know is proven and can get things done”. (Ravens passer Joe) Flacco, he’s always been that guy. “I used to hate purple; now, I love purple”.

The Ravens hope the 2011 Pro Bowl selection will bring a downfield threat to the league’s eighth-ranked passing game, which was without veteran Steve Smith and first-round rookie Breshad Perriman for much of last season.
Wallace’s visit to Baltimore came a few days after the Ravens signed tight end Benjamin Watson to a two-year, $8 million deal.
After setting career lows in receptions, yards and touchdowns in one season with Minnesota, Wallace said he knew he wouldn’t return to the Vikings when free agency started. “It’s going to be a great opportunity”. While his numbers were better in Miami, Wallace was an occasional distraction with the Dolphins and far from a game-changing target.

Wallace will turn 30 in August. It was only the second season they missed the playoffs since Flacco and coach Jim Harbaugh arrived in Baltimore in 2008. “I promise, I’ll get the last laugh”.
