Curry makes history in Warriors’ win over Magic

Golden State notched its 45th straight home victory, which is now the longest home win streak in the history of the league, breaking a record set by the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls.

“It”™s not that record, but the Golden State Warriors did blow past the Chicago Bulls in the National Basketball Association record books Monday.

Stephen Curry finished with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists, but shot just one-of-10 from beyond the arc for the Warriors, who saw their seven-game win streak snapped. A special moment occurred at the end of the third quarter, when Stephen Curry made his 300th three-point field goal of the season. Golden State will also face the Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans and New York Knicks in that stretch.

The Magic did make one more push, closing within 111-109 with 1:13 to play on five points from reserve guard Brandon Jennings and from Victor Oladipo. Going super small with Aaron Gordon (20 points, 16 rebounds) at center and Evan Fournier (20 points) at power forward.

“We have to continue to keep proving it”, Russell said about the young players stepping up recently. You could not line it up any better for the Magic… then they go out and lose by 20. Curry concluded the game with a total of 41 points and 13 rebounds. Klay Thompson added 15 points, but the Splash Brothers were a combined 1 of 18 from 3-point range. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 213.5 points.

They’ve been alright without being particularly good this season, sitting on a 27-34 record, which is only good enough for 11th place in the Eastern Conference.

Coach Steve Kerr said the “46 turnovers in the last 36 hours, inexcusable….” Golden State now has 45 straight wins at Oracle Arena. Russell, Randle and Clarkson scored 20 points apiece in the same game for the first time. He nevertheless played 35 minutes due to the continued absence of the injured Andre Iguodala, and Green struggled to shoot just 0-of-3 for one point (although he did add 10 assists, nine rebounds, three blocks, and two steals).

Tony Allen scored a season-high 26 points as the Memphis Grizzlies, despite playing without four injured starters, stunned the Cleveland Cavaliers 106-103.

Quote: “Steph is bailing us out”. Kerr has won NBA Championships as both a player and as a head coach, so he gets the benefit of the doubt when it comes to knowing what type of environment is conducive towards winning titles.
