The three suspects were seen wearing masks and driving in a gold vehicle, police said.

Police told the AP that Powell’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

“We are aware that Damond Powell was the victim of a shooting last night in Toledo, where he remains hospitalized”.

The initial report stated the bullet grazed his face and he would be okay, but the report has since been edited to say Powell’s condition is unknown.

The Cardinals signed him as an undrafted free agent, and even before Friday’s scary incident he had an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster.

A Cardinals statement says the team has been in communication with Powell’s family to offer support and resources.

Powell began his college career at Snow (Ephraim, UT) Community College.

As a Hawkeye in 2014, Powell recorded 19 catches for 317 yards and three receiving touchdowns, plus one rushing touchdown.
