He added, “PlayStation VR represents a transformative experience in gaming, and we wanted to take the time needed to launch with a broad variety of content and a sufficient supply of hardware”.

PlayStation VR (PS VR) will launch in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, North America, Europe and Asia in October this year.
PS VR’s release will come months after the respective consumer launches of similar high-definition headsets, the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. The price is significantly less than the $599 price announced by Facebook-owned virtual reality company Oculus Rift. Consumers will need to have a PC costing around $1,000 to run the Rift, and potentially one that costs even more to run the Vive.
It’s worth mentioning that the Playstation VR is only compatible with PS4 consoles, so the total investment will actually sit at around $750 if you don’t already have the console. How will Sony package its bundles for the PS4 and PS VR later this year?
Their are now more than 230 developers and publishers working on PS VR software titles, from smaller independent teams to larger studios at the industry’s top publishers such as 2K Games and Ubisoft.
In addition to playing immersive, 360-degree games, PS VR will feature a cinematic mode allowing users to broadcast traditional games and content on a virtual big screen within the headset.
House said he expects over 50 games will be available for PlayStation VR by the end of 2016.
