The New England Patriots have agreed to trade for Martellus Bennett of the Chicago Bears.

A league source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter about the trade.

Ever since the season ended, Bears general manager Ryan Pace had been cautious when addressing the topic of Bennett, attempting to maintain his value.

Even with the dropoff, the Patriots now have their most formidable tight end alongside Rob Gronkowski since You Know Who.

Bennett, 29, caught 53 passes for 439 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games for the Bears last season.

Bennett is signed through the 2016 season and set to earn over $5 million in 2016. He stayed away for the entire offseason program last year in an effort to get a contract renegotiation following his 90-catch 2014 despite having two years remaining on that four-year deal.
