Sony has been one which has been aiming at releasing their Virtual Reality device since quite some time now, and the PlayStation VR has been making news quite often.

Andrew House, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment said: “Ever since we unveiled PS VR during the 2014 Game Developers Conference, we’ve received a tremendous response from gamers and developers alike”. Sony had previously planned to release PlayStation VR (then known as Project Mopheus) for the PlayStation 4 console in the first half of 2016.

The PlayStation VR headset for the PlayStation 4 will cost just £349 – considerably less than its PC rivals. While Oculus Rift is for third party gaming console, PlayStation VR is for Sony’s own PlayStation gaming console.

Sony has pushed the launch of its PlayStation VR headset to October, claiming it needs more time to launch with a “broad variety of content and a sufficient supply of hardware”. The Playroom VR will include six games that can be enjoyed with friends and family, demonstrating why we believe VR can also be an impactful experience when it’s shared.

Developers EA, Dice and film studio Lucasfilm are working on a new Star Wars virtual reality experience exclusively for PlayStation VR, it was revealed. Add to this that many games will also demand PlayStation Move controllers, priced at $49 each, and suddenly the “full” PSVR experience you’ll need to bump that price of admission up to around $556. Lots of VR games were announced including the bird simulator Eagle Flight from Ubisoft and a remake of the rhythm based on-rails shoot, Rez.
