Pokemon Creative Design Director Eric Medalle Killed During Wind Storm

The Pokemon creative design director was driving through a storm in Seattle when, in a freak accident, a tree fell over his auto and claimed his life. The tree crashed down on Medalle’s SUV, a black BMW X3, crushing the vehicle.

The accident killed Mr. Medalle but his daughter, who was reportedly sat in the back seat, escaped with minor injuries after being trapped in the wreckage. Roughly 200,000 residents were said to be left without power, and cleanup is continuing at the time of publication.

The report said Medalle had worked for Pokemon Company International in Bellevue since 1999. He was employed by Pokemon International in November of 2003 and moved steadily upwards in the ranks. He proved himself as a valuable asset for the company, and quickly climbed the ladder to the creative design director position. Some of his significant creations included Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (graphic designer), and Pokemon Black and White (artwork). Medalle also designed most of the global logos for the Pokémon Trading Card Game after Nintendo took control of the game from Wizards of the Coast. Medalle was with his toddler-aged daughter, though, luckily, she survived. A YouCaring crowdfunding page has been established to help his daughters attend college when they are of age.

Eric Medalle was born and grew up in MI, when he eventually relocated to Seattle.
