Sony to Launch PlayStation VR in October for $399

Sony’s PlayStation VR was revealed last night during a special GDC conference. Sony had previously planned to release PlayStation VR (then known as Project Mopheus) for the PlayStation 4 console in the first half of 2016.

Sony late Tuesday detailed its launch plans for the PlayStation VR, a virtual reality headset that connects to its PlayStation 4 video game console.

How many of you think that this reasonable price tag of $399 puts Sony in the virtual reality driving seat?

In terms of specs, the PlayStation VR will feature a 5.7-inch OLED display with a Full HD resolution.

The company says 50 VR-compatible games will be available when the headset launches later this year.

Sony also announced that 50 games will be released between the headset’s October launch and the end of the year. Players can download the Playroom VR at the PlayStation store and can play six games for free. The games include The London Heist, Into the Deep, BR Luge, Danger Ball, and Scavenger’s Odyssey. This markedly cheaper than the Oculus Rift PC bundles, some of which are priced at $1,500.

The PS VR device is all set to change the way we know the world of gaming to be. He added that Electronic Arts and Lucasfilm are creating exclusive “Star Wars: Battlefront” content for PS VR. According to IGN, Sony UK confirmed via Twitter that users will need the PlayStation Camera to use the PlayStation VR, which will not be included in the box.
