A woman walks into Colorado convenience store carrying a baby- a normal enough scene.

“The police said I did the right thing by taking the baby because if she had fallen with the baby it could have been really bad”, Montano told ABC 7.

KWGN reports that Rebecca Montano was working as a cashier when a woman carrying a baby made a decision to check out.

The young woman carrying the baby was swaying, with her eyes glazed over. “I look at the mom and she has a blank stare and something in me said something wasn’t right”.

But the chatty mum suddenly went quiet and Ms Montano, who is a mother and grandmother herself, instinctively knew something was wrong. “It’s motherly instinct to worry about children”.

The surveillance video shows the woman with the baby begins to have a seizure while checking out at the counter.

She, and her baby, are now doing well and have returned to the store to thank Montano for her help. I said, “I gotta take this baby” and took the baby out of her arms.

Montano handed the baby to another customer so she could call 911 and check to make sure the mother kept breathing during the apparent seizure Sunday. The dispatcher told Montano how to attend to the woman before paramedics could arrive.
