Google Gives Developers an Early Peek of Its Future Android Update
If you’re trying to decide if you should install the new Android N Beta or Developer Preview, or if it’s worth waiting until the release in the summer, below are some additional details, what’s new, what’s broken and more for users. In recent years, Google has used I/O to start teasing its next major Android release, but today Google just made a decision to drop Android N and its first developer Preview.

The supported devices for the Android N Preview are the Nexus 5X, the Nexus 6, the Nexus 6P, the Nexus 9, the Nexus 9G, the Nexus Player and the Pixel C. “If your app is receiving these, take advantage of the N Developer Preview to migrate to JobScheduler and related APIs instead”, Google writes on the Android developers page.
Like in most of the big platforms, developers will need to opt for the split-screen mode by targeting Android N and adding a new manifest attribute called android:resizableActivity to their apps. Lifecycle changes for multi-window are similar to switching from landscape to portrait mode: your activity can handle the configuration change itself, or it can allow the system to stop the activity and recreate it with the new dimensions. The latest version – known as Android 6.0 Marshmallow – began rolling out late a year ago.
Here are a few sneak peeks of what’s new with Android N. “We’re looking forward to getting your feedback as you get your apps ready for N”, said Dave Burke, VP of Engineering at Google in a blog post.
Google are offering a $150 discount for developers on the Pixel C tablet to try out the new features on. Using the RemoteInput API enables users to reply to incoming message notifications quickly and conveniently, without leaving the notification shade. Moreover, many upcoming smartphones such as Galaxy S7 and LG G5 will incorporate Marshmallow, so the OS may end up attaining an estimated 10-15% usage share by the end of 2016.
Choosing to have the Android N Preview installed in one of these devices requires a further choice of receiving over-the-air updates for the upgrade or downloading the Android N system image. Once that is done, you will get your first download pretty much right away.

Turn on Cool color temperature: Go to the main Settings menu scroll down to find and tap Developer options (unlocked in the previous step) scroll to Cool color temperature toggle the option On turn off the screen and turn it back on. While many jumped at the chance for an array of reasons, myself included, there are also some reasons to avoid the new Android N beta program.
