NEW DELHI:-A police constable filed a case on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, for his “thulla” remark given during a recent interview has provoked breach of peace.

“If a word like “thulla” is used by an eminent personality like the chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to refer to personnel of Delhi Police, then the general public would too have no respect or regard for police personnel who dedicate their entire lives to maintain law and order in Delhi“, constable Ajay Kumar Taneja said. “This word has, therefore, harmed the reputation of the complainant in the eyes of general public, including his family, relative and friends”, he said. “It is requested to fulfill the court whether or not this assertion per se constitutes prima facie offences of defamation beneath provision of IPC part 499 (defamation) and or is roofed underneath IPC Section 504 (intentional insult with intent to impress breach of the peace) or underneath some other regulation”, stated the order.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday said its leader was ready to take on Delhi Police commissioner B S Bassi on behalf of Arvind Kejriwal in a public debate on the functioning of Police.
