In the last six competitive matches between the clubs, both PSG and Chelsea have registered one win while four games between the sides have ended in a draw. The Belgium worldwide saved Jean-Christophe Bahebeck and Thiago Silva’s spot kicks, before thumping away his own to seal the win.

It was a morale-boosting win for Chelsea, who fell 4-2 to Major League Soccer’s New York Red Bulls to open their pre-season North American tour.

With these two clubs having clashed in the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League over the past two seasons, there was some residual feeling in the match at Bank of America Stadium.

Exciting youth academy graduate Jean-Kevin Augustin continued to impress, putting in another strong display.

Diego Costa left his mark on PSG defender Serge Aurier in just the first minute, while Ibrahimovic appeared to strike John Terry in the head a couple of minutes before scoring, but lenient refereeing saw neither player carded.

Radamel Falcao made his Chelsea debut as his side defeated Paris St-Germain in a penalty shootout in the USA. It was the talented 18-year-old French attacker’s tricky turn and shot that hit the post and provided Ibrahimovic with the chance to score his second goal in as many ICC games.

Victor Moses made it 1-1 as he volleyed in from Cesc Fabregas’s chipped pass.

Chelsea then survived a scare at the other when Lucas fired a good opening wide, and within a minute of that miss the Blues were level.

Mourinho’s side put on a better showing after the break but PSG’s threat did not disappear and Courtois – on in place of Begovic – had to be alert to save from Lucas Digne in stoppage time.
