A rivalry between two ice hockey teams may have been the motive for the stabbing to death of a Philadelphia Flyers fan in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to a report from 6ABC, the victim was walking with friends when a man approached them and an altercation took place.

Emergency responders found Mr McGovern lying on the sidewalk with stab wounds to the torso.

Philadelphia Police identified the homeless man accused of stabbing and killing a Bucks County man during an argument over sports teams in posh Rittenhouse Square early Sunday.

Simminger, a veteran who lives in Blackwood, N.J., had been visiting friends in the area, Clark said. He was transported to Hahnemann Hospital, where he was pronounced at 3:36 a.m. Police were tipped off that he was there and arrested and charged him with murder and related offenses.
