President Obama on “The Daily Show”: Jon Stewart ‘Cannot Leave’
Keeping the momentum going, Obama said that his administration will next focus on the issue of climate change.

The crisis is so real, in fact, that President Obama paid the Comedy Central vet a visit Tuesday to express his condolences.
Tuesday night, President Obama sat down with Jon Stewart for one final The Daily Show interview.
Stewart is signing off on August 6 and the president is approaching his final year in office.
“It’s being challenged in the courts”, the president jokingly added following laughter from the audience. Even as he said this, Obama sounded guarded, choosing his words carefully.
“That’s not quite right”, Obama joked, “but that’s okay”, before Stewart interrupted: “Who are we bombing?”
“I can’t believe that you’re leaving before me”, Obama said. “I’m going to issue an executive order: Jon Stewart cannot leave the show”.
Yes, there were a few serious discussions about Iran, but the hottest topic of the day – Donald Trump – couldn’t be ignored.
“What I fight against is the cynicism-not saying you-but this notion that government doesn’t get stuff done”, Obama explained. “If you’re gonna do that, you’d better get started”.
Stewart is known for mixing humor with tough questions for his guests, and he did so again with the president. Stewart asked. He then noted, “We’re fighting with Iraqis to defeat ISIS along with Iran”. “So we have tried to expand things like AmeriCorps as much as possible”.
Pressed about the Iran deal and other subjects, Obama encouraged Americans to participate in politics, because: “If people are engaged, eventually the political system responds despite the money, despite the lobbyists, it still responds”.
“You really do only have a year left!” quipped Stewart, after a particularly candid answer from the president. “The issue here is, do we want them having a nuclear weapon? And the answer is no”. Not surprisingly, this was factually accurate as Obama was scheduled to appear at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee following the show, reported by Politico.
“You made the posters”, Stewart interjected. “Are we too inflammatory?”
