Peter’s to participate in Earth Hour 2016

In support of the activity, City Mayor Beng Climaco issued Executive Order 171-2016 to support and enjoin the commitment of government agencies and organizations across all sectors to help spread a new era of climate awareness. While the 60 minutes of energy saved during the event is important, Earth Hour also demonstrates that by taking personal responsibility for turning off lights and unplugging electrical items, each of us can make a positive difference. The idea came from partnership between Earth Hour CEO and Co-Founder, Andy Ridley, WWF-Australia, the Chicago-based advertising agency Leo Burnett Worldwide and Fairfax Media, a leading media company in Australia and New Zealand.

Earth Hour is calling on citizens across the country to support not only the campaign by switching off non-essential lights for the hour, but also the government’s pledge to move toward renewable energy for a sustainable future.

“Earth Hour isn’t created to have impact through an hour of energy saving”.

The Central Social Hall will also cut its lights and put out candles during Earth Hour, during which it will offer half-price perogies and tempura pickles, said co-owner Jesse Kupina.

Supporting Earth Hour is just one of SM Supermalls’ strategies for environment conservation.

This year Earth Hour – an annual global movement organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) – will be held Saturday March 19 from 8:30 p.m.to 9:30 p.m local time. From Sydney Opera House to the Eiffel Tower; from the Empire State Building to Big Ben; almost all major landmarks across the globe take part each year, including Gibraltar.

Active global participation from 172 countries is expected during this earth day.

Last year’s record-breaking event saw over 7,000 towns and cities across 154 countries take part along with the world’s most iconic landmarks.
