French police opened fire Sunday, July 26 at a vehicle which smashed through a security barrier in central Paris close to the finishing line of cycling’s Tour de France, a police source said.

Hundreds of thousands of people were expected to gather in the Place de la Concorde and along Champs Elysees avenue for the final leg of the Tour de France later in the day.
The race is due to arrive there later in the day.
Police then opened fire but failed to stop the vehicle, BFMTV reported.
Poignant told the BFM television network that no officers were injured.
According to Reuters, the incident was minor, and is not being treated as a terror-related incident, rather just a refusal to comply.
The Tour de France ends Sunday with Stage 21 finishing down the Champs-Élysées, the best-known street in Paris, which runs from Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe.
