Turnbull vows July 2 election if Senate blocks reforms

Parliament will consider the Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC) legislation and if this does not pass the Senate, the PM will call double a dissolution election for July 2.

If the Senate passed the ABCC bill and another imposing tougher governance measures on trade unions, there would be no double-dissolution election, Turnbull said.

He said the Australian Building and Construction Commission legislation had been through five reviews and that it was time to see it passed. A stronger target is down at 0.75469 where the 100 hour MA and the 50% is found.

Mr Turnbull has fronted the media this morning to announce he would call back both houses of Parliament in an effort to force the passing of reforms that were yet to pass the Senate this year.

Mr Turnbull said the time for playing games was over.

To avoid claims the Government is rushing its bills through Parliament, the Senate will sit for an additional three weeks before the Budget in an attempt to pass the workplace relations bills.

It had mishandled the debate on taxation reform, and the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull had also failed a key test of leadership by watering down aspects of the controversial Safe Schools policy, Senator Di Natale said.

“The go-slows and obstruction by Labor and the Greens on this key legislation must end”, Mr Turnbull said.
