Obama’s Supreme Court nominee a disappointingly brilliant choice
On “Fox News Sunday”, McConnell was asked about some Republican senators breaking rank and calling for a nomination, specifically Sen.

Yet there’s a glaring wild card for Republicans: Obama’s successor could be a Democrat.
And a massive public relations fight is already underway with conservative and liberal groups sparring over whether Garland should take former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s seat. If Garland gets his hearing, it will be incredibly hard to argue that someone with his credentials is not qualified for the job, and he is likely to be confirmed.
Todd did the same thing with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a 2008 clip of McConnell complaining about the Democrats shutting down lower-court confirmations that year.
Schumer says some Republicans aren’t sure they want to just ignore the Garland nomination. And what we’ve found the last eight years especially with Republicans, Boehner first and McConnell, is everything was obstructed. According to a recent Washington Post-ABC News poll, 63 percent of Americans believe the Senate should at least hold hearings on Obama’s nominee.
“They expect their Senators to do the same – and that means giving fair consideration to President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Chief Judge Merrick Garland”, said Brown. If approved, the full Senate should impartially debate the qualifications of the nominee and vote, not according to politics and brinkmanship, but for the good of the American republic.
Tillis repeated the GOP argument that they would give voters a chance to decide the next justice by postponing action until the president elected in November makes a choice. “And I am telling everybody that’s watching this, the senators aren’t going to allow that”, Reid said.
However, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other republican senators declared they will not allow a hearing or vote for whomever Obama nominates.
J. Scott Applewhite/AP Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) blasted the GOP’s obstructive tactics. This has left an opening on the Supreme Court, and it has also left the court with four liberal judges and four conservative judges.
Some lawmakers have suggested however that a vote on a Supreme Court justice could be held after the November vote, during the two-month White House and congressional interregnum. You know, the fact is, I said that they ought to meet him and talk to him and, you know, I’m not gonna pick somebody who’s, you know, obviously not a respecter of the Second Amendment. However, he said making such a nomination is not a basic process.

“With the nomination of Chief Judge Merrick Garland, President Obama has selected a widely-admired and deeply-experienced jurist with a sterling judicial record”, said Congressman Cleaver.
