Andrew House, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment said: “Ever since we unveiled PS VR during the 2014 Game Developers Conference, we’ve received a tremendous response from gamers and developers alike”.

The Playroom VR, which is developed by Japan Studio, will be available for free to all PS VR owners.

Interestingly, Sony hasn’t yet revealed when the $400 core bundle, which includes the VR headset, cables, headphones, and VR demo disc, will go on pre-sale.

What you won’t find inside is a PlayStation Camera.

Sony is looking to change that narrative with the new bundle they’re offering up for the Playstation VR. “We are beyond excited to deliver to consumers the awesome experience that PS VR offers”. That said, Amazon is listing the Camera at $44 and the Move wands at $24, so the Playstation bundle costs about the same as you’d spend buying the items individually.

Unfortunately, the PSVR Launch Bundle is only available via pre-order and in limited numbers. The official retail price is set to be $399 which should be rougly the same in Euros. The Camera is required for all PS VR users, while only certain games plan to rely on the Move controllers for motion-based controls.

It’s no wonder that gamers have rushed to pre-order the headset – its price makes it far cheaper than its main competitors in the world of high-end VR, the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive.

The PlayStation VR comes with a Full HD resolution display per eye, at an astonishing 120 frames per second, which is two times more than the PlayStation 4 console itself.
