“Lauren and I are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Trooper Thomas Clardy who tragically lost his life in the line of duty, ” he said.

“ADAs and people at the courthouse liked to read his reports”, said Trooper Darren Specht, who worked with Clardy out of the Charlton barracks.

Clardy, said McKeon, “was a hardworking guy out trying to support his family…”

He was an 11 year veteran of the state police and also served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Clardy’s wake was held in Hudson at the St. Michael’s Church, where his family was joined by hundreds police officers.

A state trooper who died following a crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike will be laid to rest next week.

It was a sea of blue outside the church on Manning Street as state troopers and police officers processed inside to mourn the loss of one of their own.

Clardy is to be buried at St. Michael Cemetery, his obituary said.

McKeon said Clardy was working a supplemental patrol shift aimed at preventing crashes when he stopped an SUV for a traffic violation around noon.

Clardy’s vehicle was pushed off the highway and was heavily damaged.
