In Tuesday’s attack, the Palestinian assailant ran through the ancient port city of Jaffa with a knife, stabbing several people along his way, until he was shot by a police officer.
In the city of Petah Tikva, an Israeli man was stabbed but managed to turn the weapon on his attacker and kill him.
The two killed Palestinians were suspected of shooting at a bus in the Israeli neighborhood of Ramot earlier on Wednesday.
The vice president said his wife and grandchildren were having dinner on the beach not far from the scene of the attack, which wounded a dozen Israelis, civilians and police officers.
In Jerusalem, two Israeli police officers were severely injured in a drive-by shooting. The rest were killed in clashes with Israeli security forces. Police engaged the two gunmen in a gunbattle.
Palestinian leaders blame growing popular anger over Israeli policies and the lack of any formal peace process for the violence.
During the same time, at least 179 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire.
Biden will travel to Palestinian political capital Ramallah in the West Bank later on Wednesday to meet Abbas.
The chancellor of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, issued a statement identifying the American stabbing victim as Taylor Force, a student at its Owen Graduate School of Management who was on a school trip to Tel Aviv.
The woman was said to be around 50 years old and from east Jerusalem, where the Damascus Gate is also located.
“The United States of America condemns these acts and condemns the failure to condemn these acts”, Biden said during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday. Police deported the family to the West Bank, she said.
“Mr. Biden is only coming to the region in the context of his plans regarding the fight against terrorism in Syria, not for us”, he told AFP, referring to talks between Biden and Netanyahu on the Islamic State jihadist group.
