Kesha Files Appeal Papers to Continue Fight For Sony & Dr. Luke Release
The terms of the contract, which were upheld by a court this month, dictate that she must work with Dr. Luke on any music she records and performs as an artist. Although the suit was initially expected to be tried in Los Angeles, it was moved to NY. His lawyers have publicly stated that they believe Kesha’s allegations are false and she has subject Dr. Luke “to a trial by Twitter” to “extort a contract renegotiation and money”.

Today, Kesha fights back by appealing the denial of the injunction by the Judge. “As the Court itself recognised, ‘It’s slavery.’ You can’t do that”.
According to E! News, they cite “affidavits by individuals with over 100 years of collective personal experience in the music industry” in order to show that “a young pop star’s fame will fade quickly, and permanently, due to a loss of momentum”.
He posted: I didn’t rape Kesha and I have never had sex with her. Kesha and I were friends for many years and she was like my little sister.
Her attorney, Mark Geragos, also contends Kornreich was incorrect in determining his client would not suffer “irreparable harm” if she was forced to fulfill her contract with Dr. Luke, aka Lukasz Gottwald. A critical component of Kesha’s case has been that the viability and longevity of her career rely on her ability to release new material before the conclusion of a legal battle that will like be a long one.
A representative for Dr. Luke submitted a statement to Rolling Stone on Monday, slamming Kesha’s appeal and praising Judge Kornreich’s February 19 decision.
The judge noted that the record label has offered to let the singer, whose full name is Kesha Rose Sebert, work with other producers, but she said an injunction is not a legal vehicle for challenging contracts.
Fans of Kesha have called on Sony to cut ties with Dr. Luke and delivered a petition with more than 411,000 signatures to Sony’s Manhattan headquarters earlier this month.
