Prince Harry Visits Survivors And Areas Affected By The Nepal Earthquake

The prince also spoke about the goal of his visit – he wants to shine the light on the enormous will power that the local people showed to rebuild their country after the devastating 2015 earthquakes.

Villagers lined up the trail to the village offering flowers and cream-colored scarf which is offered to special guests.

Prince Harry, who is on a five-day-long official visit to Nepal, arrived in Kathmandu on March 19 on the occasion of bicentenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the United Kingdom.

Villagers from Leurani crowned Harry with a pheta – a white turban-like head-dress.

“I blessed him so that he may live to be 100 years and all his wishes become fulfilled, and where he goes success will follow him”.

Nepal abolished its centuries-old monarchy in 2008 and Harry is the first British royal to visit Nepal since then.

Heavy rain and hailstones did not dampen the celebration.

Prince Harry’s visit to Nepal began with a ceremony signifying luck and purity – a welcome from five virgins.

Mrs Tamang’s husband Gandu Gurung, of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Gurkha Rifles, served during the Second World War and is believe to have seen action in Italy.

On Sunday, the prince was given a tour of the damaged historical sites of Kathmandu that was rocked by an natural disaster last April, which killed almost 9,000 people. There has been little to help the victims even a year after the natural disaster. Prince Harry met with the apprentices and artisans who are working tirelessly to restore the royal palace at Patan Durbar Square.

The highlight of his trip was visiting the quake damaged areas and highlighting reconstruction efforts.
