Apple shrinks iPhone 6S into 4-inch form factor iPhone SE

Apple is slashing the price of its smart watch and introducing smaller versions of its iPhone and iPad Pro.

The iPad Pro appears to have been considered to be a hit in Apple’s eyes as today, it has announced a new version of its tablet, although this one doesn’t have a massive 12.9-inch display.

Roughly the same size as an iPhone 5s but with the same computational power as an iPhone 6s, the iPhone SE was spruiked as ‘the most powerful phone of its size ever created’.

Apple on Monday unveiled the iPhone SE at a media conference in Cupertino enticingly called, “Let us loop you in”.

When can I buy the iPhone SE?

The Guardian described the iPhone SE as “basically an iPhone 5S body with the guts of an iPhone 6S inside”. Its 12-megapixel camera can shoot 4K video.

That does not mean that there should be no 4-inch iPhone. It was evident when the event was held in the town hall of company headquarters and had just around 200 attendees.

The phone will be available for pre-order on March 24, and is expected to be released March 31.

The 16GB device is available at $399, but will also offer a 64GB version with four times the storage for $499, which is $100 more for an increase in flash storage.

The iPhone SE sports a 64-bit A9 chip and boasts the same processing performance and graphics as the iPhone 6s.

12-megapixel iSight camera features Live Photos, a new feature that allows users to reveal the moments immediately before and after a photo was taken, “so users can enjoy a living memory rather than an instant frozen in time”.

Apple chief Tim Cook opened the event by addressing the company’s current privacy dispute with the United States government, saying it “would not shrink from it’s responsibility” in the on-going dispute, which sees both parties in court on Tuesday.
