Power is provided by a stock, Mustang GT-sourced 5.0-liter V8 engine that makes 435 horsepower and 390 lb-ft. of torque. Ford, Shelby and Hertz have teamed up many times over the past 50 years, and with the 2016 Mustang on sale now, it has been 50 years since that first Hertz Shelby Mustang.

The GT-H 50th Anniversary Edition will be ready to rock starting this Memorial Day weekend as part of Hertz’s Adrenaline Collection.
Detailed images of the car’s interior were not provided though the company did say it will get unique Shelby GT-H trim pieces.
Naturally, the 2016 Shelby GT-H wears the iconic black paint with gold racing stripes. So in 1966 Ford partnered with Hertz offering what they called a “Rent-A-Racer” program, renting specially equipped Shelby GT350-H at select Hertz locations. It gains a Ford Performance Handling Pack, which includes upgraded front and rear dampers, lowering springs that drop the ride height by 1 inch, modified upper strut mounts, new jounce bumpers, revised front and rear sway bars, and new toe links Also boosting performance are its staggered wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport rubber and its Ford Performance cat-back exhaust.
Hertz Rent-a-Car is adding to its Dream Car Collection and its Adrenaline Collection for drivers who want a little more fun from their rentals.
There will be no mistaking the 2016 Ford Shelby GT-H for anything but a Shelby/Hertz Mustang with its iconic gold Le Mans stripes over Ford’s rich and deep Shadow Black basecoat/clearcoat finish.
Shelby outlines the history of the GT-H in the video below. Special badges appear in the front grille, rear faux gas cap and trunk lid.
Inside, renters will find special sill plates, GT-H-specific floor mats, and a numbered plaque on the dashboard.
Las Vegas, Nevada – this is probably the most desirable Shelby Mustang variant there is – and, although you might get the chance to drive one, you will never be to buy it.
