Apple Pay, the Cupertino, California company’s equivalent service, has been available in the United Kingdom for around a year and a half now.

In the UK, Android Pay will be coming in summer 2016.
We’re not seeing Android Pay on the Play Store yet, but you can download it over on APK Mirror.
Luckily, they won’t have to wait much longer, according to Google, which announced today that United Kingdom users will be getting Android Pay “in the next few months”.
As for an Android Pay release date the search giant is still reluctant to say exactly when it will arrive, merely stating it’s expected in the United Kingdom “in the next few months”.
When Google first unveiled Android Pay, it said you would be able to pay for goods by simply unlocking your Android phone like you normally do (which also enables Android Pay to authenticate your transaction), then placing it near a merchant’s contactless terminal, and that’s it. In time, this will probably expand, as has happened with Apple Pay. Samsung Pay will only work on Samsung’s own smartphones.
“Android Pay will support MasterCard and Visa credit and debit cards from numerous UK’s major financial institutions”.
Which shops support Android Pay? Samsung Pay’s unique magnetic strip technology means the manufacturer’s service is compatible with more terminals than Android Pay, giving it a slight edge. Google confirmed with VentureBeat that the United Kingdom arrival won’t immediately signal a broader European launch.
Android Pay requirements: Does my phone support Android Pay? The average number of journeys made on London’s transport network using mobile devices has increased from 7,500 a day to more than 35,000, with more than 200,000 unique devices used to make trips in the six months leading up to February- an increase of 1,000 devices per day.
Millions of Nationwide’s members are using its mobile banking apps, online services and paying with contactless cards across the country and supporting Android Pay is the latest in a number of innovative customer focused developments from the Building Society. While it’s a more secure method of authorisation, you can still use Android Pay without one.
