Goldfish Born Without Jawbone Gets Life-Saving Braces
Even for the smallest of creatures, orthodontia comes with a hefty price tag.

Mr. Hot Wing and his hot new orthodontic installation. After some research, he installed a custom brace on the lower half of Mr Hot Wing’s jaw he crafted from a plastic credit card.
A pet is a pet. Whether it’s a dog, a cat or a goldfish, people usually want what’s best for their animals and in this case, what was best was braces for Mr. Hot Wing.
When Mr. Hot Wing, a pet goldfish born without a lower jawbone, came in to see Dr. Brian Palmeiro, he was having trouble breathing and eating because he couldn’t keep his mouth open, according to WPVI-TV.
Brian Palmeiro, a veterinarian in Allentown, Pennsylvania, has possibly just created the first miniature brace for a goldfish. The surgery cost about $150.

A post about the procedure on Lehigh Valley Veterinary Dermatology’s Facebook page has since cemented Mr. Hot Wing’s status as a genuine social-media star.
