NFL owners approved a new “two-strikes-and-you’re-out” automatic ejection rule for NFL games next season at the NFL owners meetings in Boca Raton, Fla. on Wednesday morning.

Two Unsportsmanlike Conduct Penalties = Ejection Last season, Odell Beckham Jr. and Vontaze Burfict made headlines for their inappropriate play – though since both were flagged for unnecessary roughness, this new rule wouldn’t have affected them.
The league’s competition committee will make a proposal to the owners at their meeting in May that would modify the sport’s replay rules, according to Atlanta Falcons President Rich McKay, the committee’s chairman. “We have not been able to affect sportsmanship in the way we think we need to, so this year we have another section on sportsmanship”. “On the other hand, I’ve also been very open over the last several years that we have had discussions about the discipline process for decades”.

The extra point snaps from the 15 were an experiment for 2015 that worked so well that making it permanent was a given.
