Ford died Tuesday after an 18-month battle with a rare, aggressive cancer.

In 2013, the Star revealed that Ford had attended a military ball intoxicated and then that a cellphone video apparently showed him smoking crack.

“I love the work that I do and I’m going to keep doing it. I want to keep working for the people of this city”.

Yan said the school is “deeply saddened” by the news of the 46-year-old’s passing and that students will remember Ford as an inspiring figure.

“He was a very passionate leader for Toronto and spoke his mind all the time and in many ways he was a unique person for that reason so our hearts go out to him and his family, in this very hard time”, said Regina Mayor Michael Fougere.

“The city is reeling with this news, and my thoughts are with his wife Renata and their two children, as well as Rob’s brothers Doug and Randy, his sister Kathy, his mother, Diane, and the rest of their tight-knit family”, Tory said in a statement.

RIP: Former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford died Tuesday at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Ford was declared cancer-free previous year and appeared at campaign events for former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

There is nothing I can say now, but have said enough in the past; look at the endless string of related links below.

Along with his equally ambitious brother, Doug Ford Jr, a city council member, Ford was a vocal force in Toronto politics, speaking for a constituency of mostly white suburbanites who felt left behind by social change.

Following the confession, Ford was not removed from office, but the city council slowly stripped him of many mayoral powers. After a scandal broke about Ford’s use of crack, hundreds of people lined up for bobblehead dolls of the mayor, signed by Ford himself.

Atchison said he only met Ford once, but they had a “delightful” conversation about hockey.

Ford said he entered a rehab program, but he had frequent relapses and was occasionally seen in an obviously inebriated state. Ford tells Kimmel he wasn’t elected to be flawless but to clean up the financial mess at city hall.

Ford hadn’t volunteered at Don Bosco in three years and numerous staff and students he engaged with are now gone. I know there are many who were affected by his gregarious nature and approach to public service.

Reaction from across the country and across political parties has been pouring in following the news of Rob Ford’s death.

At the height of the scandal it seemed the world was focused on Ford, and with all eyes on Toronto for all the wrong reasons, Ford’s legacy won’t ever burn bright.
