From hybrid to SUVs to, well, both – these five vehicles were our favorites from a loaded first day of the New York International Auto Show.

The 2017 Camaro ZL1, which Chevrolet says will challenge the most advanced sports coupes in the world, will get a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine under the hood that packs an estimated 640 horsepower.

Another standard element on the new Camaro ZL1 Convertible is a dual-mode exhaust and a Driver Mode Selector, among others.

Functionality defines the Camaro ZL1’s form, with the exterior shaped during more than 100 hours of wind-tunnel testing and on-track validation to improve aerodynamics and cooling for track use. A lower grille opening creates more airflow, and the hood has a carbon fiber insert and a heat extractor that pulls hot air from the engine compartment, Chevrolet said.

Inside, there are standard Recaro front seats, along with a sueded flat-bottom steering wheel and shift knob. The model can be ordered with a six-speed manual gearbox with active rev matching, or with an all-new ten-speed automatic transmission. The ZL1 package also includes the newest version of GM’s Magnetic Ride Control suspension system, massive Brembo brakes and lightweight wheels wrapped in high performance rubber.

The 2017 Camaro ZL1 will go on sale late this year and pricing will likely start at less than $60,000.
