Democrat Hillary Clinton raised $30.1 million in February

That could lead to a contested convention where many delegates would be free to vote for the candidate of their choice after the first ballot, when most of the delegates are bound to support the victor of their state primary or caucus.

Clinton supporters said the thought of a Trump presidency would change all that.

“It’s not a realistic strategy”.

In another interview with host Rachel Maddow just last week, Bernie Sanders noted that despite Hillary Clinton being ahead of him with hundreds of representatives voting for her, he feels that the next primaries will be more in his favor.

Indeed, if Clinton becomes the first female president of the United States, she will have Bernie Sanders to thank for helping her get there. “There is a clear path to victory as we begin the second half of the delegate selection process”.

Bernie Sanders has to convince the leaders of the Democratic Party that he is the best choice for the 2016 nomination.

On the Democratic side, it’s a little different.

They say they started as serious underdogs when Sanders announced last May.

Sanders now has 870 delegates (844 pledged and 26 supers).

“Technically they’re not bound on any ballot”. “The idea being that delegates are selected to fill a slot that’s representative of how the state voted”.

In the pamphlet, each presidential candidate has four bullet points to outline “noteworthy policy positions”. The process has been used by the Democratic Party for decades. All these are separate from superdelegates, who are automatically delegates based on their status.

Research conducted by Professor Jay Sexton of the Rothermere American Institute at Oxford University found that Democrat candidate Mr Gore may have won the 2000 election had more registered ex-pats from Florida voted.

Primaries in five big states brought more delegates to front-runners Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton this week, but they didn’t bring much more clarity to the outlook. In terms of specific votes, Sanders received 23,779 votes and Clinton won 10,689 votes. Polls open at 6 a.m. Tuesday in precincts across the state, and the race between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders could be a close one. “You’re going to be committed to your candidate”.

If no candidate wins the 1,237 delegates needed before the July nominating convention in Cleveland, the convention is considered contested or brokered.

I was troubled to see official Orange County Democratic Party election materials chock-full of bias and misinformation when I went to vote. Clinton needs 744 of those to secure the nomination before OR votes.

In Vancouver, Sanders declared to a packed gymnasium that the nation’s economic, campaign finance and criminal justice systems are “rigged” and criticized pharmaceutical companies for rising drug costs. “You have to understand it and you have to try to take advantage of the opportunities”.
