People are led from a building at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, in San Diego.
The initial report came from a caller who reported a patient with a gun and then hung up.
Law enforcement teams continue to comb buildings looking for an armed gunman, she said, while an earlier report of a bullet found on the ground is unconfirmed.
She said a search of the hospital failed to turn up any suspects but four unspent rounds of ammunition were discovered and a probe was underway. “Investigation is ongoing to determine any connection to the anonymous telephone call received earlier in the day”.
It is the second such security scare at the facility this year.
