Volkswagen and Porsche have said they are recalling more than 800,000 Touareg and Porsche Cayenne sports utility vehicles because of a fault with the pedal mechanism.

Porsche said its recall also covered models dating from 2011 to 2016.
A Porsche statement added: “The problem was found during internal inspections and remedied in the ongoing series”.
“A workshop appointment that will be free of charge will be arranged as quickly as possible and will take less than half an hour”.
VW said the Touareg recall included 58,000 vehicles in Germany.
And in February Volkswagen said it had to recall 680,000 cars in the United States due to possible faulty airbags supplied by Japanese maker Takata.
Volkswagen and government regulators must present a detailed plan within a month on getting almost 600,000 diesel cars to comply with clean air laws or risk the possibility of a trial this summer over an emissions cheating scandal, a federal judge said Friday.

On top of still unquantifiable regulatory fines in a range of countries, VW is facing a slew of legal suits, notably in the United States and Germany, from angry vehicle owners, as well as from shareholders seeking damages for the massive loss in the value of their shares since September.
