Intel Skylake chip offers faster CPU, graphics performance and longer battery

It’s also considered that capability usage will certainly be lower – distinctively 30p c better batteries – understanding that Intel High definition graphics overall performance will just be, typically, 30per cents speedier. Intel promises 17% faster CPU performance, and 41% faster HD graphics, for Skylake Y processors.

This is according to a new report by Fanless Tech, which claims to have caught wind of an internal presentation slide from Intel, which details the improvements that future Macs will have over the older versions.

Exclusively obtained and published by FanlessTech, one of the slides shows the Skylake chip will offer up to 10-20% CPU performance improvements in single and multi-threaded applications than a Broadwell chip, while consuming less power. While 3D gaming is expected to get a staggering 50% boost.

Next up is the H-series – that’s the chip that will likely feature on an upcoming MacBook Pro – which is tipped for an 11% CPU boost, 16% faster graphics, and 80% “lower silicon power”.

The desktop S series will also see CPU gains of up to 11 per cent, while thermal design power (TDP) has been reduced by 22 per cent (from 84 to 65W).

Intel is expected to unveil two of its 18 upcoming Skylake processors, the K series and Z170 series, in August at Germany’s Gamescom.

For reference, there’ll be four different series of Skylake processors – S-series for desktop, and Y-, U-, and H-series for mobile.

Word has it that notebook manufacturers are already developing new products based on Intel’s Skylake processors, and they are ready to start mass producing in September, with Hewlett-Packard reportedly at the head of the pack. In light of such problems, Intel has been quite quicker to release Skylake to win back the market.
