Asked if he had spoken to Hodgson over why he has been left out, Noble said: “No. But it’s not a personality thing because I’ve started every season under every manager at West Ham since I’ve been here”.

The match was scheduled during the global break, when England play Germany and Holland. Noble had been tipped for a call-up, but Roy Hodgson did not select him and the midfielder has given up on earning a place at this summer’s European Championships, but not an worldwide career. “So be it. I’ve put it behind me now and I’m just going to enjoy the next couple of months”.

“To be honest with all the England speculation it was a good worry to have about a possible clash but it wasn’t meant to be”, he said on Sky Sports News HQ earlier today.

“West Ham fans are famous the world over for their wonderful support”.

Noble, who has thus far massed more than 350 appearances in all competitions for West Ham, has represented England up to Under-21 level. “It’s about a lot of very, very good players and they’ve got a tournament to try to win in the summer”. This season is his 12th in the first-team squad.

West Ham announced an increased capacity for the Olympic Stadium ahead of their move for the 2016-17 Premier League season.

West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian has told the club’s official website that Mark Noble is the man that all other players in the squad look up to and hailed the 28-year-old as a true leader.

“I’m English, I’ve always wanted to play for England but it’s out of my hands”.

Noble, who will donate the proceeds from his testimonial – current West Ham squad members not involved in internationals versus a West Ham All-Stars XI – to three charities, Help for Heroes, the Dylan Tombides Foundation and Richard House Children’s Hospice, has not spoken to Hodgson. To be able to play a testimonial, in a season like this, the last season at the Boleyn Ground, is pretty special.
