The airport located on Yeongjong Island, some 60 kilometers east of Seoul, is South Korea’s No. 1 airport and one of the busiest in Asia.
Orlando International Airport spokesman Rod Johnson says the only thing visible to passengers will be more uniformed police officers and security guards patrolling the airport.
Some passengers admitted that they are on edge and paying extra close attention to their surroundings.
TSA spokeswoman Lorie Dankers said she could not offer specifics about heightened security measures at Alaska airports. According to First Post, the airport also said that flight delays are possible.
Billions of dollars have been spent to keep terrorists out of airports, subways, and other transportation hubs since the September 11, 2001 attacks.
“Of course it bothers us”, said traveler Linda Cohn, “We feel very sorry for the victims of the bombing and the citizens of Brussels”. “That’s the world that we’re living in”, she said.
He said all body and luggage scanners and closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras were operational, beaming activities at all the airports and advised passengers to arrive the airport on time to conclude their check-in procedures on time in order not to miss their flights.
After more than 30 people were killed and at least 200 people injured in blasts in Brussels, some are calling for increased security at American airports.
While Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called for tighter and broader security, President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton vowed to do more to confront these terrorists.
At Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, at times suggested as a model for tough security, private security companies trained by the national security agency Shin Bet profile passengers, use bomb-detecting devices and question individual travellers, under the watch of police at the airport’s entrance.
Security at the airport and metro stations in India’s New Delhi has also been heightened, the Indian Express reported, citing police. “We’re asking the public’s help in identifying anything suspicious – if you see something, say something”.
