They approached frontman Ian Brown for a comment outside the studio yesterday, and he confirmed that the new material was sounding “glorious” and that it would be coming “soon”.

It’s been over 20 years now since the Stone Roses released their second studio album ‘Second Coming’, an LP weighed down by the passage of time and the massive expectation created by their classic debut album of 1989.

Months later things got worse when drummer Reni quit the band and although they found a replacement and undertook a world tour, in March 1996 guitarist John Squire also quit.

Not only are the long-dormant Britpop pioneers the Stone Roses scheduled to play a batch of shows this year, the rumors about a new album are true.

A source has said: “Ian Brown and the lads have been busy getting their next album ready”. Their UK and Ireland plans include four nights at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, one at Dublin’s Marlay Park and a headline set at T in the Park.
