Trump calls for border closings after Brussels attacks

A new propaganda video from a pro-ISIS media group featured Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump calling Brussels a “horror show” after the recent terror attacks there.

He told fans they “do not respect us”, adding that part of winning the fight against extremism is to “get them to respect the West and us”. “I’d go further [than waterboarding, ] I’d listen to the military people, but I’d go further”. “When you ask a question like that, it’s a very – it is a very sad thing to have to answer it because the enemy is watching and I have a very good chance of winning”.

“A broad-brushed approach to counter terrorism is ineffectual and is thankfully not a way the USA nor its allies approach the individual threats”, he said.

Trump, who called for a temporary ban on Muslims in December following terror attacks, and previously called Brussels a “hellhole”, again called for increased border security and accused the government of being oblivious to US immigration.

“Frankly, the waterboarding, if it was up to me, and if we changed the laws or had the laws, waterboarding would be fine”, said Trump. In fact, civilized standards are a long-term advantage whatever short-term edge they might provide on occasion – and we do emphasize “might”.

Ted Cruz wants to monitor Muslims in the U.S. If you look at Paris – Paris is no longer the city of lights. “We have seen it in a number of ways here in the United States, most recently in San Bernardino”.

“It is time for us to implement serious vetting”, he said.

“We need to immediately halt the flow of refugees from countries with a significant al Qaeda or ISIS presence”. One of the most attractive cities in the world.

Trump is not the only presidential candidate who has used anti-Muslim rhetoric following the Brussels attacks.

“As president … I would be very, very tough on the borders, and I would be not allowing certain people to come into this country without absolute flawless documentation”.

Clinton said the USA and Europe need to tighten security, particularly on visa checks and tracking of worldwide travelers’ names, while saying that Europe should commit to the Eurozone, which has relatively free borders.

“Brussels was one of the great cities, one of the most lovely cities of the world 20 years ago”. We have to be very careful. “What would you have done first as President of the United States if you got this call?”

“If it happens, we’ll find the people who did it and they’ll suffer greatly”.

“Brussels is a total mess”.

“I think they’re told to say that politically”.

Chertoff also pointed out the significant differences between ISIS attacks in Europe and the situation here at home, differences that fly in the face of the two leading GOP presidential candidates’ warnings of impending doom. They described Mr. Trump’s proposal to reduce US involvement in North Atlantic Treaty Organisation as a retreat from global leadership.
