Federer blames bath mishap for injury that led to surgery
Roger Federer has withdrawn from the Miami Open after suffering from a stomach virus.

“Very simple movement, probably a movement I’ve done a million times in my life for sure”, Federer said. I was really excited to have my comeback in Miami but am in no condition to play. “I tried warming up this morning but it was clear that I could not compete”.
After his Australian Open exit, Federer injured his knee running his daughters a bath and was forced to go under the knife to fix a torn meniscus as a result.
Del Potro beat fellow countryman Guido Pella 6-love, 7-6 to set up a second round clash with third seed, Roger Federer. “I felt a click in my knee”, Federer said on Thursday. Here I am seven weeks and two days later. I haven’t seen him play at all so I don’t know what to expect. “If I feel something in the knee I won’t play”. Following successful rehab, healthy and ready to go, the Swiss number one looks to get back to his winning ways in Miami. He’s playing Key Biscayne for the 16th time, although he did skip the tournament previous year for scheduling reasons. He is in only his third tournament since returning from left wrist surgery last June, having reached last month’s Delray Beach semifinals and being ousted in the second round at Indian Wells. “It’s good it’s a stomach problem and not the knee, but it’s the same for this tournament”.
Federer, sporting his new Nike Emoji T-shirt, warms up before the tournament in front of fans. When I was fighting for prize money increases, especially at the slam level, I was always very aware of the fact that it was always going to impact the women’s game, which I was very happy about. “He is such an important player for our sport with his personality and all he has achieved in his career”.

“I’ve been in Dubai for 10 years now and been tested once”, he said.
